My first ever job as a student nurse was in 1982 when I started training in Gibraltar 🇬🇮
The first hospital I ever worked in was #StBernardsHospital which was the old #colonialHospital in 🇬🇮
I did some research before writing my part of #phantasmsintheinfirnary & it transpires that the hospital has a long history dating back to the 15th century.
My reason for writing this book was having worked in the old edifice, I never really saw anything like a ghost but boy did I feel uneasy.
Especially working in the ward that was beside the mortuary. No matter how hot the nights were, there was a cold shudder to be felt in this ward. Shadows and noises but never a ghost.
The building has now been knocked down so that has all gone... Has it? There is the discovery of all the bodies from the siege... More than 200 skeletons found buried under Gibraltar’s old St Bernard’s Hospital could have been victims of an 18th century siege, however many bodies were found to date to earlier sieges. Gib hospital bodies
It's no surprise Phantasms in the Infirmary was born... 👻👻👻
